The mysterious black colored conical shape seeds of Nigella seed or commonly known as Kalonji are beautiful to view and are also full of numerous qualities. It is actually obtained from the onion and are said to be the onion seeds. Nigella seeds are used all around the world but are originally from Southern Asia. Widely used in Indian and Middle Eastern cookery, they have a bitter and peppery taste and are often used in savoury breads such as naan and pitta. They are often dry-fried before using.
